Yahya Alshamy is a third-year PhD student in the Department of Economics, Graduate Fellow in the F.A. Hayek Program for Advanced Study in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, and a PhD Fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. Alshamy has previously worked as a research fellow for the Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies. His research covers defense and peace economics and development in Yemen, Somalia, and Afghanistan. His work has been published in Peace Review and Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization.
